Data Manager

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

Our client is looking for a Data Manager who will manage the technical data capabilities both at the group and local levels by leading different projects addressing primarily pricing, profitability monitoring and reserving topics. His/her main missions will involve the following:

  • Steering and monitoring data projects by coordinating from technical point of view the implementation of group and local data strategy in general and more specifically technical use cases selected,
  • Acting as the main point of contact of IT teams to capture data definitions, business glossaries, data dictionaries, and other metadata required to support the business activities,
  • Providing support to implement processes, policies, procedures and standards to govern business critical data in liaison with IT teams,
  • Maintaining and improving the existing technical data lake for international contracts (structure, quality, platform …) according to the business needs,
  • Assisting colleagues whether they are performing everyday data-related tasks or retrieving special reports or data sets,
  • Developing the insurance knowledge of the main insurance entities of the Group by disseminating data management know-how, and by interacting with these different entities whose size, profession and specialties are heterogeneous.

PROFILE

  • Master’s in actuarial science, mathematics, IT or related area,
  • At least 7 years of experience in P&C insurance or within a consulting firm,
  • Data management skills, ability to manipulate data, analyze, structure and issue reports and recommendation, knowledge of non-structured data is considered an asset,
  • Statistical Methodologies and Modeling (GLM), knowledge of Machine Learning (Random Forest, Gradient Boosting) is an additional asset,
  • Project management skills,
  • Team spirit and autonomy,
  • Communication skills,
  • Analytical and global thinking ability,
  • Good command of R software, Python and data visualization tools is an additional asset,
  • Fluency in English, the command of a second foreign language is considered an asset.

Internal Model Manager

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

Our client, a French insurance group, is looking for an Internal Model Manager to join the Actuarial Direction of the group.

Leading a team of 4 actuaries, the Internal Model Manager will be responsible for

  • The model calibration,
  • The calculations optimization,
  • The coordination and organization of yearly productions
  • The identification of areas of improvement regarding tools, processes,… and implementation of the best practices
  • The stochastic simulations and other related technical studies
  • The relation with the regulation authorities
  • Run the modelling community in the group and manage different projects related to the model

PROFILE

  • Master’s degree in actuarial sciences or related field
  • At least 6 years of experience in a modelling or Solvency II positions
  • Strong modelling skills
  • A previous experience in management is an asset
  • Excellent knowledge of R and its packages (R shiny, R Markdown,….)
  • Experience with a simulation platform such as Igloo, Remetrica or Risk Explorer is an asset

Underwriter

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

Our client, a worldwide insurance company, is looking for an Underwriter to join the Underwriting Team while working closely with the Actuarial and Financial Department.

The Underwriter’s main missions will be as follows :

  • Insuring profitability and pricing on insurance contracts (medical, life, disability and accident) on profitability and pricing
  • Reviewing insurance contract for annual renewal
  • Performing risk assessments for specific contracts on new clients in close collaboration with the involved teams.

PROFILE

International P&C Actuary

DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

Our client is looking for an International P&C Actuary who will be responsible for the following tasks:

Reserving

  • Manage the quarterly IFRS reserves process end-to-end for assigned European business units
  • Understand and analyse the quality of the data in terms of coherency, completeness and consistency
  • Analyse quarterly IFRS reserves to determine the appropriate IBNR level for run-off and new businesses,
  • Engage with local business units to present the corporate actuarial view on reserving
  • Proactively manage relationship with local finance departments
  • Contribute to harmonise and maintain the IFRS and Solvency II related actuarial methods, assumptions and calibration across all business units and lines of businesses

Projects

  • Engage with underwriting departments and develop as a subject matter expert on pricing/underwriting from a corporate actuarial view perspective
  • Contribute to the project aiming at implementing the IFRS 17 standards for assigned business
  • Contribute to the design, implementation and testing of a new data repository

Processes and Controls

  • Responsible for the design, implementation and timely execution of internal controls applicable to the reserving process both for IFRS and Solvency II
  • Engage with the internal control department to provide relevant information and raise concerns or issues to the Actuarial Corporate Director

Documentation

  • Design and implement the documentation repository of the department
  • Draft assigned documentation related to technical methodologies or functional processes

PROFILE

  • Professional experience of at least 3 years in P&C actuarial or risk management activities (consultancy/audit experience is considered an asset)
  • Full qualification in a recognised actuarial association
  • Strong expertise in actuarial software and tools (SAS or ResQ is considered an asset)
  • Strong drafting and communication skills
  • Good project and stakeholders management skills
  • Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders
