Description of the position

Our client is looking for an Actuarial Manager to lead the Benelux team. He/she will be responsible of ensuring the adequacy of the non-life reserves and the quality of analyses (including data), actuarial calculations and reports. Furthermore, he/she should take the lead and actively participate in the development and implementation of new methods, systems and tools for the new accounting standards (IFRS17), as well as contribute to further improvement of the current Solvency II and IFRS reportings.

Your main responsibilities will be the following:

  • Ensure the quality of the property & casualty reserves, coordinate actuarial calculations, (data) analyses and the proper translation into tangible reporting with regard to IFRS reserves, Best Estimate Reserves and reserving risk under Solvency II
  • Manage the Benelux Non-Life team from a budget/managerial perspective
  • Compose and/or edit actuarial reports for stakeholders in compliance with procedures and methodologies
  • Lead and/or participate in a diverse range of projects and work teams both within the domain/interdisciplinary
  • Follow the internal and external trend developments, suggest tangible actions for improvement and/or implement best practices
  • Mange the development and implementation of new methods, processes, systems and tools for the new IFRS 17 reporting, with the support of the Finance transformation unit
  • Act as a critical sparring partner for the management and the team, provide technical insights and stimulate development and personal growth
  • Support the business with adequate reporting and analysis of key performance indicators on the profitability and riskiness of the products and involvement in the planning process

 

Profile

  • Qualified actuary
  • Broad actuarial experience within the financial industry (preferably in an international environment)
  • Be able to connect people from a hierarchical and a non-hierarchical position
  • Experience with actuarial software packages and other IT tools (ResQ, SAS, R, Excel, database systems, SAP)
  • Experience in team management, ideally a team of experts in an international context
