Dewi Van De Vyver

Dewi Van De Vyver joins the Board of Directors of Ethias, succeeding Anne-Marie Seeuws.

Graduated from several trainings in digital transformation and ICT management and holding a master’s degree in European Law and Economics from the University of Ghent, she is CEO of Flow Pilots, a company developing apps and software for businesses.

With her numerous digital skills and as ICT Woman of the Year in 2020, Dewi will bring new skills to the board, especially in the field of sustainability and corporate social responsibility.

Appointments – April 2023

Who are the most recent appointments as directors and C-levels in Belux? April was a particularly quiet month.

 

Marc De Ceuster

Marc De Ceuster is appointed new member of the Board of Directors of KBC Group, on proposition of the Board of Directors to the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders.

Additionally, he will be the President of the Audit Committee of the Group.

Marc holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics and a law degree and is a professor of Financial Economics. For 4 years, Marc was a part-time Risk Management Manager at Deloitte.

In 2009, he had an advisory position on the Board of Directors, before becoming director of KBC Group. He then became an independent director of Arkea Direct Bank. At the end of 2019, he joined the board of Almancora Beheersmaatschappij as an independent director, where he first became chairman of the Audit Committee and then chairman of the Board of Directors and the Remuneration and Nomination Committee.

 

Raf Sels

Raf Sels is also appointed new member of the Board of Directors.

Raf Sels holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting and Taxation and is a certified tax accountant. In 2016, he became CEO of SBB Accountants & Advisors. Since 2022, he has been CEO of Maatschappij voor Roerend Bezit van de Boerenbond (MRBB).

 

 

 

Marc Bourgeois and Griet Smaers have both been appointed regents of the National Bank of Belgium.

They succeed Mia De Schamphelaere and Estelle Cantillon. Following the General Meeting of 15 May, they will sit on the bank’s Board of Regents for a three-year term.

This board is composed of 14 regents, as well as the governor, the vice-governor and the directors.

Marc Bourgeois

Graduated from a master’s degree in Law and professor of tax law and public finance, Marc Bourgeois is an expert in the field of tax regionalisation, fiscal federalism and the distinction between tax fraud and tax evasion.

 

 

 

Griet Smaers

Griet Smaers, graduated from a master’s degree in Law and currently alderwoman in Geel, was a Flemish MP and member of parliament.

Who are the most recent appointments as directors and C-levels in Belux? This month, three new appointments took place in Luxembourg.

 

Michele Grosso

As CEO of Democrance, an international insurtech, Michele Grosso joined the Board of Directors of Microinsurance Network in Luxembourg. Microinsurance Network is a non-profit association promoting the development of insurance products to less privileged populations.

In his career, Michele has worked within leading consulting, financial and insurance compagnies such as AXA, BNP Paribas and PWC.

 

Christine Theodorovics

Christine Theodorovics has been appointed CEO of Baloise Luxembourg. She succeeds Romain Braas. In addition to her new position, the Board of Directors suggested that Christine took over the responsibilities of Baloise Assurances and Baloise Vie Luxembourg.

Holding a master’s degree in Economics from the University of Vienna and a PhD from the University of Gloucestershire, she started her career in the insurance sector by joining Swiss Life as Head of Operational Excellence. She then joined Zurich Insurance, where she headed Zurich Deutschland. After that, she moved to AXA Group as Chief Strategy Officer for the Italian, German and Belgian markets.

Christine is also a member of the supervisory board of Athora Deutschland and Hansard Global Plc.

 

Bart De Smet

Bart De Smet has been appointed Chairman of the Corporate Governance Committee, which was set up on the initiative of the FSMA, the FEB and Euronext Brussels. He succeeds Thomas Leysen.

Graduated with a degree in Actuarial Science and a postgraduate degree in Managerial Science, Bart De Smet has a considerable experience in corporate governance. Indeed, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Commission since 2016, is Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ageas, is a member of the Board of Directors of GUBERNA and is Chairman of the FEB.

 

Christian Strasser

Christian Strasser, current CEO of Lalux, has been appointed Chairman of the professional association of Luxembourg insurers and reinsurers for a two-year term. He succeeds Marc Lauer.

Christian started his career at Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) and joined its management committee in 2010. Five years later, he joined Lalux. Christian had already been Chairman of the association from 20108 to 2020.

Who are the most recent appointments as directors and C-levels in Belux? February was a particularly quiet month.

 

Eve Roux

Eve Roux has been appointed Executive Director of CNP Luxembourg. She succeeds to Jean-Mary Castillon.

CNP Luxembourg is the subsidiary of the Business Unit investments group-engineering and wealth savings.

Gratued from ESCI and Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, Eve Roux has considerable working experience within CNP, having joined the group in 2000.

Before starting her new position Eve was head of the Amétis network within the Business Unit Partnerships France.

Appointments – January 2023

Who are the most recent appointments as directors and C-levels in Belux? January was a particularly quiet month.

 

Christophe Pochez has been appointed Chief Risk Officer of Federale Assurance. For nearly 16 years, he was Head of ALM and Financial Risk Management of the company.

Christophe holds a master’s degree in Actuarial Science from the Université Catholique de Louvain. He started his career in the banking sector, and more particularly at Belfius (formerly Dexia). In 2007, he has joined Federale Assurance to head the ALM and Risk Management team.

 

Christophe Van Loo

Christophe Van Loo will become the new Chief Commercial Officer Institutional Partners of NN, succeeding Joost van Ginkel. His nomination depends on the decision of the National Bank.

With over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, Christophe will be responsible for defending the interests of the insurer and its various banking partners.

Joost van Ginkel will be in charge of customer satisfaction.

 

Thierry Ballas

Thierry Ballas has been appointed Head of external communication, branding and digital content of P&V Group.

Thierry worked for 8 years at Bpost before joining the insurance company. Additionally, he has broad experience, varying from the automobile sector at Mercedes, and Toyota to cosmetics at L’Oréal.

 

 

 

Michael Müller

Michael Müller, Managing Director of the Swiss branch, will become the new CEO of Baloise, as of 1st July 2023. Indeed, he will take over from Gert De Winter.

Gert will leave the company on 30th June for personal reasons.  He had been in this position since 2016.

 

 

 

Antonio Corpas

At the beginning of January, we learned the tragic news of the death of Antonio Corpas, CEO of OneLife. He joined the company in 2008 as Head of tax & legal and group general counsel. Ten years later, he became CEO of the group.

End of December, a succession plan has been set up in which Elio Fratini took over the position on an interim base. This plan will be maintained.
