KBC appoints Kris Vervaet as Group CIO
Following the retirement of Erik Luts, KBC Group announces the appointment of Kris Vervaet as CIO and member of the Executive Committee of KBC Group.
Kris Vervaet is an experienced leader with more than 30 years of expertise in technology, operations and digital transformation. Throughout his career, Kris has held senior leadership positions at Proximus, EDF, EDF Luminus and DPG Media, where he notably served as CEO of the Belgian activities and COO/CDO at group level.
Since joining KBC, he has played a key role in organisation, operations and IT, leading transformation initiatives focused on automation and efficiency. Prior to this appointment, he served as CIO of KBC Belgium.
Bart Frijns appointed Chief Risk Officer of NN Insurance Belgium
As of 1 September, Bart Frijns will join the Management Board of NN Insurance Belgium as CRO, subject to approval by the NBB. He will succeed Angela Lissenburg-Rademaker, who will take on the role of Manager Risk International within NN Group.
With more than 30 years of experience, Bart has built a strong career in risk management and financial services, including many years within NN Group. He previously served as Vice President Asset & Liability Management at ING, held several international positions within NN Group, and spent the past five years as CRO International. Most recently, he served as Head of Enterprise Risk Management ad interim.
Roel Soetens appointed CEO of Yuzzu
As of 1 July 2026, Roel Soetens has been appointed CEO of Yuzzu, part of the AXA Group.
Roel brings extensive experience in the insurance industry, having built most of his career at AXA Belgium. Over the past eight years, he held senior leadership positions within P&C Retail, notably as Head of Underwriting and Head of Claims, with a strong focus on service quality and operational excellence.
With a career spanning more than 30 years across insurance and banking, Roel combines strong commercial expertise, leadership and a technology-driven mindset. In his new role, he will lead Yuzzu’s continued development and strengthen its position in the Belgian insurance market.
Els Descamps appointed General Manager of Ethias Lease
As of 1 January 2027, Els Descamps will take over as General Manager of Ethias Lease, succeeding founder Erwin Ollivier, who will step down to take up his mandate as Mayor of Wemmel.
With more than 20 years of experience in commercial and leadership roles, Els has developed strong expertise in leasing, fleet management and mobility. Throughout her career, she has held senior positions at companies including Athlon, Arval, LeasePlan and Volvo.
She will join Ethias Lease in autumn 2026 to ensure a smooth transition before officially taking up her new role, with a focus on further developing the company and strengthening its position in the Belgian leasing and electric mobility market.
