Steven Vanackere joins AXA Belgium’s board as independent director

AXA Belgium’s shareholders have approved the appointment of Steven Vanackere as an Independent Director, effective 27 May 2026, subject to approval by the National Bank of Belgium. He will serve on the Board of Directors and join both the Audit and Risk Committees. Vanackere brings extensive financial sector expertise, having served as Belgium’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance from 2011 to 2013. More recently, he was Vice-Governor of the National Bank of Belgium from 2019 to 2025, where he oversaw insurance sector supervision and represented the institution at the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA). Belfius unveils new leadership team to drive its UNLOCK 2030 strategy

As part of its UNLOCK 2030 strategy, Belfius has announced a refreshed leadership team across its banking and insurance businesses. Olivier Onclin becomes CEO of Belfius Bank, while Marc Raisière transitions to Chairman of the Board.

The Bank's Executive Committee is strengthened with Mario De Vry (Executive Director Wholesale & Public Banking) and Matthias Baillieul (Chief People & Corporate Affairs), while Bram Somers expands his remit as Chief Technology & Operations Officer. Marianne Collin remains CFO, Hédi Ben Mahmoud CRO, and Dirk Gyselinck continues to lead Private, Wealth & Retail.

At Belfius Insurance, Charlotte Gaudy joins as CFO and Karel Verbeeck becomes Executive Director Non-Life, alongside Laurent Goudemant (Life), Els Blaton (DVV & Beyond), Emmanuel Michiels (CRO), and CEO Frédéric Van der Schueren. Cedric Ide to become CEO of KBC Securities

KBC Securities has announced the appointment of Cedric Ide as Managing Director and CEO. He succeeds Geert Cleuren, who will take on a new role within the KBC Group as General Manager Western European Branches.

Ide brings more than 25 years of experience in investment banking and strategic advisory. His career includes positions at Allen & Overy, Merrill Lynch in London, and ING, where he most recently served as Global Head of Financial Sponsors Group and Global Head of Private Markets Advisory.

Alexander Roose (Left) joins as Head of Equities, bringing over 25 years of asset management experience, including senior leadership roles at Degroof Petercam Asset Management and Decalia. He is recognized for his expertise in thematic, sustainable, and global equity investing.

ING Belgium extends leadership mandates until 2030

ING Belgium has renewed the mandates of three key directors for a further four years. Peter Adams will remain CEO until 2030, while Bahadır Şamlı, Chief Information Officer, and Pinar Abay, ING Group’s Head of Retail Banking and a non-executive director of ING Belgium, also see their mandates extended.

Since becoming CEO in 2021, Adams has overseen a major transformation of ING Belgium, accelerating digitalisation, streamlining the branch network, and diversifying the bank’s activities beyond traditional retail banking into private banking, entrepreneurship, and the public sector. Jean-Paul Servais remains Chairman of the FSMA

Jean-Paul Servais, Chairman of the FSMA, has been re-elected for a third term as Chairman of the Board of IOSCO, the global organization of financial supervisors. The re-election of Jean-Paul Servais will run concurrently with his chairmanship of the FSMA, as he will remain Chairman of the FSMA until September 2028, when he will reach the age limit.

In September 2028, Karel De Bondt will succeed him as Chairman of the FSMA. Karel De Bondt, an economist by training, is currently a member of the FSMA’s management. He heads the ‘Economic affairs and strategic projects’ department and is already involved in determining the FSMA’s strategic choices and policy options. Among other things, he oversees the risk analysis activities, the drafting of the annual action plan and the data analytics projects. (Source)
